Here are some of the awards, certifications and recognition our teams have recently received:

Health, Safety and Wellness:

  • In April 2019, our Lapa mine was recognized with the prestigious 2018 John T. Ryan award for the safest mine in Canada at the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum's (CIM) 2019 Convention.
  • The Michel Létourneau Award celebrates achievements in teamwork, productivity improvements, and health & safety. In 2019, the Kittila mine's Water Treatment Plant team received the award.
  • Our Meliadine and Meadowbank Surface Mine Rescue teams received top honours for the Best Surface Rope Rescue at the 62nd Annual Mine Rescue Competition held in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories (NWT).
  • The La India Rescue Squad members achieved a high-level certification in rescue at heights and confined spaces.
  • The Annual Quebec Mining Association Awards ceremony honored 23 supervisors from Agnico Eagle's LaRonde Complex and Goldex mine for exceeding 50,000 accident-free work hours from July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019.

Our People:

  • Marco Mendez Banda from Pinos Altos was awarded the 2019 Paul Penna Award for Community Service.
  • Agnico Eagle Mexico received the Diversity and Inclusion Award in the category of more than 500 employees. This award is part of the Great Place to Work program and it is fundamental to our culture and core values.
  • In April 2019, Pinos Altos and Creston Mascota were the first mines to receive the Human Rights Compliance Award for developing a culture of knowledge and awareness of human rights at the mine sites.
  • The Larry Connell Award for Collaborative Excellence recognizes an employee who exudes the key qualities of retired colleague, Larry Connell. The inaugural 2018 winner is Aaron Ramirez Rubio from Pinos Altos.
  • La India mine received the Gilberto Rincon Gallardo - Inclusive Company Award granted by the Mexican Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, recognizing the company for harnessing and fostering a truly diverse workforce and excelling in its commitment to equality and inclusion across all strands of diversity.
  • Agnico Eagle Mexico was inducted to the Great Place to Work (GPTW) Hall of Fame for achieving 8 consecutive years certified as one of the best 100 companies in the GPTW Survey in the category of 500 to 5000 employees.

Socio-Economic Development:

  • In March 2020, our Community Relations, Education & People Development team in Nunavut was awarded the prestigious Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) Sustainability Award. This award honours an organization that demonstrates outstanding initiative, leadership, and accomplishment in protecting and preserving the natural environment during the exploration, development or operation of a mine, as well as efforts to establish and maintain good relations with local communities. 
  • In May, the Mexican Center of Philanthropy and the Alliance for Corporate Social Responsibility presented the Corporate Social Responsibility Award to Agnico Eagle Mexico (for the 12th consecutive year) and Agnico Eagle Sonora (La India) (for the 4th consecutive year).
  • In February 2019, our Kittila mine was recognized with the prestigious Regional Developer of Lapland Award for making a significant positive impact in Lapland in helping to promote the development of the province.
  • Agnico Eagle received the Community Engagement Award in the large business category at the Rouyn-Noranda Chamber of Commerce and Industry Award Ceremony, in Québec.
  • La India Complex obtained the "H Distinctive" for the 6th consecutive year. This recognition by the Secretariat of Tourism (SECTUR), which is responsible for the promotion and development of the nation's tourism, is provided for compliance with the procedures set by the Mexican Norms (NMX-F-605-NORMEX-2018).

Other Achievements:

  • Agnico Eagle received 5 awards at the 2019 Investor Relations Awards: Best Financial Reporting; Best In Sector: Materials; Best IR by a Senior Management Team (Large Cap); Best Investor Relations Officer (Large Cap); Best Overall Investor Relations (Large Cap).
  • Two Agnico Eagle members were recognized at the 2019 Quebec Mineral Explorations Association’s (AEMQ) Awards:
    - Alain Blackburn was awarded the Hector-Authier Award in recognition of his highly successful career and contribution to economic development in Quebec through his numerous exploration discoveries;
    - Roger Doucet won the Nicolas-Denis Medal for his contribution to exploration and prospecting in Quebec.
  • Sean Boyd was recognized in 2019 by the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario as a new Fellow (FCPA), the highest honour bestowed upon a CPA within the accounting profession.
